| Incumbent | The person who already occupies the position that the succession plan aims to replace. An incumbent can be an active or inactive employee. |
| Succession plan | A succession plan is the result of careful analysis of a position-centric talent pool. It contains a final list of people designated as potential successors and includes the readiness level for everyone listed in the plan. The succession plan also provides the basis of ongoing development. |

| Talent indicators | Talent Indicators are a set of labeled icons that provides additional information about employees when analyzing them within talent pools. |
| Talent metrics | Talent metrics are data points collected from an employee or their manager that can be used to identify people for a talent pool or to analyze the people within that pool. Talent metrics include willingness to relocate (employee) and those provided by the employee’s manager – Potential, Risk of Loss, Impact of Loss and Promotability. Another talent metric is a performance rating obtained using the Review module. |
| Talent pool | A talent pool is a group of high performing employees who are being developed to fill specific roles in your organization. Talent pools provide the employees who can be selected for succession plans and 9-Boxes. |
| Talent profile | A talent profile is a quick snapshot of employee information. It shows an employee's name, email, manager, location, job, organization, hire date, and employee ID. If enabled, it also shows willing to relocate toggle, relocation locations, and plan form template. Every employee has a talent profile and can view their own. |
